Iranian Leaders Warn Donald Trump Against Overstep a Defining 'Limit' Regarding Demonstration Intervention Threats

Ex-President Trump has warned of involvement in the Islamic Republic should its regime kill demonstrators, prompting admonishments from high-ranking figures in Tehran that any American interference would violate a critical boundary.

An Online Post Fuels Diplomatic Strain

Via a social media post on Friday, Trump said that if the country were to fire upon demonstrators, the US would “come to their rescue”. He further stated, “we are prepared to act,” without detailing what that could entail in practice.

Protests Continue into the New Week Amid Economic Strain

Public unrest are now in their latest phase, representing the largest in recent memory. The current unrest were catalyzed by an sharp drop in the country's money on recently, with its value plummeting to about 1.4m to the US dollar, intensifying an existing financial crisis.

Multiple individuals have been reported killed, among them a volunteer for the Basij security force. Videos circulate showing officials carrying firearms, with the sound of shooting audible in the background.

Iranian Officials Issue Strong Warnings

In response to Trump’s threat, a top adviser, counselor for the country's highest authority, stated that the nation's sovereignty were a “non-negotiable limit, not a subject for adventurist tweets”.

“Any intervening hand nearing the country's stability on any excuse will be severed with a swift consequence,” he said.

A separate high-ranking figure, a key security official, claimed the foreign powers of having a hand in the unrest, a frequent accusation by officials in response to protests.

“Trump must realize that US intervention in this internal issue will lead to destabilisation of the entire area and the harm to Washington's stakes,” he declared. “The public must know that the former president is the one that initiated this provocation, and they should consider the well-being of their military personnel.”

Context of Strain and Protest Scope

Tehran has previously warned against American soldiers based in the Middle East in the before, and in June it launched strikes on a facility in Qatar after the US struck its nuclear facilities.

The ongoing demonstrations have occurred in Tehran but have also spread to other cities, such as a major city. Merchants have shuttered businesses in solidarity, and activists have gathered on campuses. Government Stance Changes
